The scholarship has been funded by Airport owner Ronan Harvey who is himself a former aircraft engineer. He says "the aviation and aerospace industry in the UK is vital to the economy and we need to encourage young people to be aware of opportunities within it."
Airport Manager David Young said: "I am really grateful to all the people at Kemble who have voluntarily supported this important project, especially the fly2help team, and the fact we have pulled this off speaks volumes about the aerodrome.

HELP FOR HEROES
The charity Help for Heroes was launched in October 2007 in response to the desire of ordinary people to do something practical to help our wounded servicemen and women.
Help for Heroes is strictly non political, recognizes that wars happen under any government, and are non critical, preferring to get on with the job of supporting wounded servicemen and women rather than debating the rights and wrongs.
For more information please see:

In support of this worthwhile cause, Steve Slade is attempting to land his microlight aircraft at more than 50 airfields or airstrips in the course of one day. The possibility of establishing a new Guinness World Record is being investigated.
The flight is planned for 20th September, weather permitting, starting near Bristol and finishing at the Hampshire Microlight Clubs base at Colemore Common near Basingstoke, where a well-earned BBQ is planned to feed the pilots and supporters who have taken part in events on the day.
